It has been a busy weekend of design for Interior Design Service Online.

Purple has never, ever been my color. I often wonder if this is a designer thing as I distinctly recall a designer I worked under in San Francisco’s hating purple. I mistakenly wore a lavender Brooks Brother’s blouse one day to the office and was reprimanded by her assistant “didn’t I know purple was off limits?”
Fast forward 10 (okay 15 years) later and many years working as an interior decorator online and I admit the color is slightly growing on me. The strongest influence is my 6-year-old daughter who has decided she is “over princess prissy pink” and only likes purple. Way too much watching of Descendants perhaps!
So in honor of her new favorite color, and a color that is growing on me, I have complied a list of five top shades of purple for interior design:
Benjamin Moore
Purple Rain
1386
Thank you Prince for a fabulous song and Benjamin Moore for this deep, intense color!
Glidden
Quaint Purple Rose
HDGV62
Not too girly yet still soft and feminine.
Behr
Glitterati
P120-7
Super glamour and rich!
Sherwin Williams
Mauve Finery
SW 6282
Sophisticated enough for a Master Bedroom when paired with black furniture, white bedding and mercury glass lamps.

This week, one of the many rooms I had the pleasure of designing was a Family Room for a Texas ranch house. Think long room, old fireplace, wood paneling and two exterior doors. This space was a challenge on the furniture layout side but the decorating side was a blast!
I added warm white walls, a leather sofa, some rustic elements, fun prints and pops of color turned the space into a ranch meets updated farmhouse look.
Below are a few of my favorite selections from the design:
The rug is where a design usually starts for me and this room was no exception. Once I found this jute rug with teal stripes I knew exactly where the design was headed. What is not to love about this rug? Natural fiber, stripes, color, fringe and this rug from Surya happens to also be budget friendly.
These wool and cotton throw pillows from Surya hit the right note between rustic and refined. Place on the brown leather sofa, these throw pillows added the needed color and a touch of softness.
3. Wall Art
To break up the newly white painted wood paneling on the walls, we needed some great art. This set of framed botanical prints was exactly right. Try hanging a series of art near a television to break up the look of big boxes on the wall. We placed these near a television to do just that.
4. Coffee Table
There are a lot of industrial modern style coffee tables available these days. In my online interior service design work this is something I stumble into all the time. Our selected table from Wayfair hits all the right notes – style, scale and price.
This teal and green graphic print is just what my design needed. One would not typically think modern print in a farmhouse style but sometimes mixing in the unexpended makes a design awesome.

First and foremost, I completely admit that I am on a deep blue kick. Very rarely does an “in” color speak to me in this way but there is something about navy blue that is classic and so lovely.
This week I spent a morning with a client selecting a deep blue wall color for her Dining Room. Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore was the absolute winner. What I love so much about this color is that it is a neutral in an unexpected way. A deep blue color, yes, but more of a backdrop than an in your face color. Almost like a pair of great jeans – they go with anything.
The below photos show just how great this color is with so many different styles.

Take a look at our latest design concept board for our online interior design service. Our client requested a fresh Master Bedroom that incorporated her existing gray headboard and gray carpet. To this neutral backdrop we added lots of navy blue, white and even some silver.
These colors work together beautiful to create a crisp and clean Transitional Style Master Bedroom.

As an online interior decorator I have vacillated with a love / hate relationship with the grey trend. But it appears the grey trend is here to stay, at least for a little while longer, why not add a cool “cool” grey piece of art to your home?
Love this “Trace of Feathers” art available at Z Gallerie. It is a hand-painted gallery wrapped canvas with visible texture and metallic pearl paint. A perfect way to embrace the grey trend until it drifts away.
Here is a new concept project board for a transitional style Dining Room! Our online interior design service created this lovely board to blend with our client’s gorgeous home decorates primarily in cool neutral.
Warm, sophisticated and slightly rustic, this Dining Room is a beautiful room to enjoy many special moments with family and friends.

The above board was designed for a client that wanted a “clean, modern and slightly earthy” Master Bedroom. The room was designed using a restrained color palette of cream, white, black and grey mix with lots of warm wood tones and silver accents.
